The railway engineering division of Arcon specialise in
the maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification of tracks
and railway infrastructure. For many years, Arcon have been
involved in Thermit Welding on railway infrastructure. Thermit
Welding is a highly skilled welding process used for the
joining of rails by the application of the alumino-thermic
welding process.
Within the railway division of Arcon,
we have a highly experienced team of Thermit Welders, who
have all attended the appropriate training courses to achieve
the Certification of Competance by Thermit Welding (GB)
Ltd. This training covers a detailed selection of the various
equipment and consumables that are available to produce
a highly technical (profile) finish of the running track.
Arcon have worked extensively with
both London Underground and Network Rail. All our welders
are fully certified on London Underground (LUL) open section
and tunnel and are also certified for Network Rail Infrastructure.
Along with the specialised Thermit
welding process, Arcon work in conjunction with London Underground
and Network Rail for the general maintenance and repair
of the railway infrastructure. This involves carrying out
stick welding (ARC) on electrified rails, the burning of
scrap rails, which have been made redundant from the track,
and many other railway engineering procedures.
Arcon have implemented a fully
integrated Track Training Scheme which allows our personnel
to refresh and improve their skills. A full-sized simulation
track has been set up at our Training Facility in London,
which allows our personnel to perform simulated track maintenance
and repair procedures in a safe and controlled environment.
This Training Facility is also used for regular training
courses and meetings.
Arcon
have worked on a number of large railway projects both in
London and across the UK. We have built up a reputation
for reliability, a highly skilled workforce, and ability
to complete projects within budget and on time.
